Comparing the Perceptions of Operating Room Technicians and Nurses Regarding Futile Care: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background. The growing trend of useless care might lead to negative consequences for patients, staff, and the organization. employees who patients in their last stages life a long time not tend pay enough attention patients' pain. As result, quality services be negatively affected. This study aimed compare perceptions operating room technicians nurses regarding futile selected hospitals Hamadan province, Iran from October December. Methods. Using available sampling method, present descriptive cross-sectional was performed on 200 health workers (114 86 technicians). Data collection tools included two-part demographic information questionnaire perception designed based Corley’s Moral Distress Questionnaire. questionnaires were distributed person electronically. analyzed using Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 26. We used frequency, mean, standard deviation statistics independent t-test analysis variance (ANOVA) analytical statistics. Results. mean score nurses' significantly higher (16.53±6.18) than that technicians. While both dimensions intensity (66.71±13.72) repetition (60.03 13 13.72) at high level, (50.19±18.90) (52.43±18.8) an average level. Conclusion. Nurses seem have relatively better understanding compared is probably due frequent contacts with overlooking death, as well direct family relatives. In this regard, it essential develop guidelines delimiting standards staff’s provision care.
